Truck Accident Causes Diesel Leak, Road Closure in Agder
A truck accident in Agder, Norway, has resulted in a diesel leak into a nearby river and the closure of a road in both directions, Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported on January 30, 2026. The incident occurred at 00:05 am on Thursday.
Details of the Accident
The truck collided with concrete blocks separating the road lanes. According to operations manager Tone Lise Erikstad of the Agder police district, the trailer is on one side of the impact, and the concrete blocks are on the other.
Environmental Impact and Response
The accident caused damage to a diesel tank, leading to a leak of 200-300 liters of diesel into a nearby river. Fire services were dispatched to the scene at the request of the Coastal Administration to mitigate the environmental impact.
Road Closure and Detour
The road remains closed although tow trucks work to remove the vehicle and contractors repair the damaged concrete blocks. A detour is in place via Longum. The duration of the road closure is currently uncertain.
Driver Condition
The driver of the truck was transported to the emergency room for a check-up following the accident.
