Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Minister KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono responded to accusations by the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa regarding the ship’s budget having been disbursed.

In the video circulating, Purbaya said that the ship budget from the Ministry of Finance had been disbursed, but the shipbuilding industry had not yet received orders. Trenggono asked Purbaya to check directly with his subordinates at the Ministry of Finance regarding the budget.

“Try asking your subordinates first, is it true that the money for the ship has been disbursed,” asked Trenggono in a post on his personal Instagram@swtrenggono, seen by detikcom, Tuesday (10/2/2026).

Trenggono explained that the ship building project in question was actually funded by a credit budget from England. In notes detikcomIndonesia is planning to build 1,500 fishing vessels in collaboration with the UK.

“Dear Minister of Finance, so that you understand and are smart, that the funds for the construction of the ship came from foreign loans from the UK government,” stressed Trenggono.

Purbaya’s statement was delivered at the Revitalization of Indonesian Shipyards and Shipping: Encouraging Competitiveness and Increasing National Industrial Capacity organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Purbaya looked surprised because KKP had not yet placed orders to the Indonesian shipbuilding industry. In fact, the Ministry of Finance has disbursed the ship procurement budget for the KKP.
