Truck Accident Causes Road Closure and Secondary Incident Near Neubrandenburg

A truck accident on the L28 highway between Brunn and Neddemin, near Neubrandenburg, Germany, led to several hours of road closure on the morning of March 24, 2026. A secondary incident occurred while the initial accident was being secured, resulting in further investigation.

Initial Accident Details

At approximately 6:30 a.m. On March 24, 2026, a truck with a trailer carrying packages veered off the L28 in a right-hand bend shortly before Neddemin and ended up in a ditch. The 35-year-old Polish driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital in Neubrandenburg for treatment. Neubrandenburg Police Headquarters reported that the road was closed for several hours to facilitate the complex rescue operation.

Volunteer fire brigades from Brunn and Roggenhagen, with a total of eight personnel, were dispatched to contain leaking fuel from the truck. The estimated material damage resulting from the accident is approximately EUR 200,000. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the initial accident.

Secondary Incident

While emergency services were securing the scene of the truck accident, a separate incident occurred. A driver disregarded the barriers in place and damaged equipment belonging to the fire department. Police officers on site apprehended the driver, a 64-year-old German citizen, who is now under investigation for hit and run.
