The Dutch government has collapsed after failing to reach an agreement on tightening asylum rules. Prime Minister Mark Rutte tendered his resignation to King Willem-Alexander on Friday evening.

“The differences of opinion appear to be insurmountable,” Rutte said in a statement. “Thus, I have offered my resignation to the King.”
