WASHINGTON – The United States could potentially control over half of global oil production if American companies were to regain access to Venezuela’s substantial oil reserves, according to statements made by former President Donald Trump. This growth hinges on a renewed collaboration with Venezuela, a nation possessing the world’s largest proven oil reserves.

Historically, Venezuela nationalized the assets of US oil companies during the early 2000s under the leadership of then-President Hugo Chávez. this action, described as “unfair” by Trump, contributed to a strained relationship and, according to reports, factored into a controversial attempt to intervene in Venezuelan affairs.

During a meeting with executives from major oil corporations – ExxonMobil, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips – Trump outlined a vision for a collaborative energy partnership.”We will work together with Venezuela,” he stated, emphasizing the opportunity for American companies to revitalize Venezuela’s energy infrastructure and considerably boost oil production.

“American companies will have the opportunity to rebuild Venezuela’s energy infrastructure and ultimately increase oil production to unprecedented levels. If we combine Venezuela and the United States, we have 55% of the world’s oil,” Trump added. Following the meeting, an announcement was made regarding anticipated US investments of at least $100 billion into Venezuelan oil production.

The potential for increased oil output from Venezuela, combined with existing US production, could reshape the global energy landscape and significantly influence market dynamics. The success of this venture, however, depends on navigating complex political and economic challenges and establishing a stable, mutually beneficial relationship between the two nations.
