The discussions followed a period of diplomatic friction that surfaced in April during negotiations over a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. During that period, Donald Trump publicly criticized Israeli strategy, leading to acknowledged tactical disagreements between the allied governments while both sides maintained shared overarching objectives.
Addressing Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza Frameworks
The agenda covered the implementation of the US-backed framework agreement aimed at resolving the state of war between Israel and Lebanon, an accord that faces ongoing application challenges on the ground.
