Former President Donald Trump announced that major U.S. oil companies are preparing to commence crude oil drilling operations in Venezuela in the near future. He stated that negotiations are well underway, positioning this as a mutually beneficial chance for both the United States and Venezuela.
“We are going to start drilling very soon. We have the largest companies in the world. They are all negotiating right now,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. He emphasized the potential for increased revenue for Venezuela, stating, “They will receive more money than they have ever received, but we will also receive money.”
Venezuelan officials have confirmed initial financial benefits from the emerging oil agreement. Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuela’s president in charge, announced on January 20th that the country had already received $300 million as the first installment of revenue derived from the pact with the United states, with expectations of reaching a total of $500 million.
This development signals a significant shift in energy relations between the two nations, possibly impacting global oil markets and Venezuela’s economic recovery. The involvement of major U.S.oil companies is expected to bring significant investment and expertise to Venezuela’s oil sector.
