“We have an armada going there, and maybe another one is going,” Trump told Axios, adding that he was thinking about sending another aircraft carrier strike group.
On Friday, representatives of Tehran and Washington began new talks in Oman.
Trump said the talks were “very good” and announced further talks.
In the course of the zero protests in Iran, Trump threatened the leadership of Tehran with military intervention and strengthened the US military presence in the region, including sending the aircraft carrier “Abraham Lincoln” there.
However, there is now talk of a new deal on Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s leadership remains skeptical of talks with the United States.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet with Trump in Washington on Wednesday to discuss talks with Iran.
Israel is demanding that the US deal with Iran also affect Tehran’s missile program and its support for militant groups in the region.
Tehran’s leadership recently publicly rejected such claims.
