Trump and Putin Discuss ukraine Negotiations After Mar-a-Lago Meeting

US and Russian Presidents Donald trump and Vladimir Putin had a “positive” telephone conversation on the topic of negotiations to end the war in ukraine, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt announced on Monday, December 29, on her page on the social network X.

The conversation between the two leaders was confirmed by assistant to the head of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov. According to him, trump, together with his advisers, informed Putin about the results of negotiations with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the US President’s private residence in Mar-a-lago, Florida, on December 28.

The Russian President, in turn, according to Ushakov, told Trump about the alleged Ukrainian attempt to attack the state residence of the head of state in the Novgorod region with drones, which was previously announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Putin’s aide noted that the “attack” occurred “virtually immediately after” the negotiations at Mar-a-Lago. The Russian leader told Trump that it woudl not go unanswered.
