“Zelensky will have to take action. Russia wants to make a deal, and Zelensky will have to take action. Otherwise, he will miss a great opportunity,” Trump said.
Russia is not ready for peace
Let us recall that Ukraine, Russia and the United States held 2 rounds of peace negotiations in Abu Dhabi over the past month. During this time, Moscow showed no signs of readiness to end the war.
The first round of negotiations took place on January 23-24. On the night of January 24, despite the negotiation process, the Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on Ukraine. The enemy’s target, as usual, was energy objects.
The second round of negotiations took place on February 4-5. And this time, too, there was a massive attack by the invaders – the enemy carried out shelling on the night of February 3. As a result of the attack, the Darnitskaya Thermal Power Plant in Kyiv was practically destroyed – more than 1,000 residents of the capital were left without heating until the end of winter.
At the same time, according to Russian media, during the negotiations the Russians put forward a new ultimatum to Ukraine regarding Donbass. They want all participants in the negotiation process to recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk regions as Russian at the legal level.
At the same time, Ukraine’s position does not change. According to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, on the issue of territories, “it’s fair to stand where we stand.” At the same time, he rejects the withdrawal of Ukrainian defenders from the Donetsk region.
By the way, the third round of negotiations will take place next week. It will take place in Geneva.
