Trump’s Peace Plan Raises Concerns About ukraine

For those who have followed the conflict closely since Putin invaded Ukraine, it’s clear his ambitions for a greater Russia haven’t changed. The situation may have evolved since February 24, 2022, but his main goal-completely controlling Ukraine-remains, at least for now. President trump recently presented President Zelensky with what he called a joint US peace plan, which is concerning. If this was a misunderstanding, that’s one thing. But if it was intentional, it shows disrespect for the Ukrainian people and insults Europe and NATO, according to columnist Hamish de Breton-Gordon in an analysis for The Telegraph.

Europe’s proposed solution seems fair, but after Trump criticized Zelensky in an inappropriate way,it seems unlikely Putin will agree to these terms. Why would he compromise when Trump seems persistent to weaken Kyiv?

Trump continues to push for a deal focused on resources, like rare earth minerals.

Putin, though, is only interested in an ideological win – defeating Ukraine. With General Kellogg, who understood military strategy, no longer involved, Witkoff is left to negotiate as if it were a simple business deal.
