ANKARA – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has publicly stated that intelligence suggests Israel is actively seeking opportunities to launch an attack against Iran. He cautioned that such a move would significantly exacerbate regional instability.
In an interview with Turkish television station NTV, broadcast on Friday, Fidan expressed hope for a de-escalation of tensions.Though, he asserted, “The reality is that israel, in particular, is looking for opportunities to attack Iran.”
When pressed on whether this assessment extended to the United States as well, Fidan clarified that his concerns were primarily focused on Israel, as reported by Turkiye Today.
The Foreign Minister revealed that he had directly communicated thes concerns to Iranian officials during a recent diplomatic visit to Tehran. “When I went to Tehran a few days ago, I told them all about the process as their friend,” Fidan stated. He added that Iranian counterparts shared candid insights, stating, “and you know, a friend told me the bitter truth.”
Fidan’s statements come amid heightened regional tensions and international efforts to prevent a wider conflict. The potential for a direct confrontation between Israel and Iran raises serious concerns about a further escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.
