TVU Networks and smartphone maker vivo unveiled the TVU Pocket on September 10, 2026, a phone-sized broadcast device that combines mobile imaging hardware with a multi-network transmission engine. According to TVU Networks, the unit eliminates the need for external mobile apps or complex rigging, feeding live video directly into cloud production workflows.
Dual 5G and ISX Transmission Architecture
The device uses TVU’s patented Inverse StatMux Plus (ISX) algorithm, the same transmission engine that powers the company’s flagship TVU One backpack transmitters. According to TVU Networks, the system runs dual active SIM cards across two independent 5G carrier networks alongside dual active Wi-Fi bands simultaneously. Rather than failing over sequentially, the hardware aggregates four live data paths in parallel to maintain signal integrity in congested environments like stadium gates or breaking-news scrums.
Imaging Specifications and Broadcast Tools
Built on a custom-edition vivo flagship chassis, the hardware incorporates vivo’s ZEISS optics, featuring 14mm, 35mm, and 85mm prime lenses covering wide angles, interviews, and distant subjects. According to vivo, optional ZEISS teleconverters extend that optical reach to 200mm and 400mm full-frame equivalents with integrated stabilization. The device captures video from 4K down to 480p at frame rates between 25 and 60fps, offering manual control over ISO, shutter speed, and exposure.
The platform supports a range of integrated production features, including:
- Split-screen output and background keying
- URL, HTML, and GPS data overlays
- One-tap social media simulcasting
- Video return feeds and TVU Partyline intercom integration
- TVU Anywhere remote control and Time Lock synchronization
According to the companies, external hardware accessories from manufacturers such as Accsoon and DJI, including the Osmo series, connect directly to the unit.
Industry Deployment and Availability
“TVU Pocket continues the mission we began with the world’s first cellular backpack: broadcast-grade production in every creator’s hands,” said Paul Shen, CEO of TVU Networks, pointing to ISX technology as a method to bond multi-network connectivity for field reporting.

Tang Qingliang, general manager of imaging products at vivo, noted that adapting their optics for live broadcast addresses environments where repeat takes are impossible. The companies scheduled public demonstrations of the hardware at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, located in Hall 5, Stand B.86.
