U2 Announces 2027 World Tour and New Album 'Carnaval De Luz

U2 has announced the first leg of their 2027 world tour, titled Carnaval De Luz presents: The Greatest Show On Earth, marking the band’s first stadium performances since December 2019. The tour kicks off in Mexico City on February 23, 2027, with support from Beck, following the release of their 16th studio album.

When and Where Will U2 Start the 2027 Tour?

The band will launch their upcoming stadium run in Latin America, playing six dates across three cities in early 2027. The tour begins with two nights at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on February 23 and 26, featuring support from Beck.

Following the Mexico City opening, the band travels to Brazil for two performances at Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo on March 10 and 12. The Latin American leg concludes with two shows at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on March 23 and 25.

What Prompted the Return to Stadiums Now?

The upcoming global trek supports U2’s 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, set for release on November 13. This record marks the band’s first album of new material in nine years. The album features a 12-track listing, including the third single “The Greatest Show On Earth,” which was co-written by the band alongside Brian Eno and features a contribution from Dolly Parton on the closing track “Torn.”

The tour also follows celebrations marking the band’s 50th anniversary. U2 commemorated the milestone in September with a surprise performance on Dublin’s Grafton Street and an appearance at their old school, Mount Temple.

How Have Health Concerns Impacted the Band’s Live Plans?

The stadium dates mark U2’s first return to a stadium setting since they concluded The Joshua Tree Tour at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium in December 2019. In the intervening years, the group completed a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas without Larry Mullen jnr, who was recovering from neck surgery.

Mullen underwent surgery in Dublin and spent months relearning his drumming technique. Speaking to Rolling Stone Magazine, Mullen stated that he will assess his fitness level on tour night by night, noting that playing for a shorter duration if necessary is a compromise he is willing to accept.
