The attacks targeted the country’s digital infrastructure and vital sectors, prompting a robust response from the Council and its partners.
Sophisticated Attacks and AI Exploitation
The attacks involved attempts to infiltrate networks, deploy ransomware and conduct systematic phishing campaigns targeting national platforms. Notably, the Council reported that terrorist groups are increasingly exploiting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to develop sophisticated offensive tools, representing a qualitative shift in their cyberattack methods. This highlights the growing need for advanced cybersecurity measures to counter evolving threats.
National Cybersecurity System in Action
The UAE’s national cybersecurity and cyber defense system operates continuously, collaborating with service providers, national and international entities, and specialized organizations. Strategic partnerships and advanced international technical expertise are leveraged to strengthen protection, accelerate recovery, and enhance national digital resilience. The Council emphasized that the safety of individuals, the protection of personal data, and the continuity of critical services remain top priorities.

Recent Initiatives and Focus on Cyber Awareness
The Cyber Security Council recently launched ‘NibraS,’ a national competition aimed at encouraging the younger generation to create short video messages that raise digital awareness and safeguard the community against cyber threats NibraS Competition. Submissions for the competition have closed, and winners will be announced during CyberQ AbuDhabi 2025.
