Uber Boosts Driver and Courier Earnings with Expanded Gas Savings Programs

Uber is significantly expanding its fuel discount and incentive programs for drivers and couriers across the United States, responding to continued high gas prices. The initiatives, which include increased cash back rewards, expanded discounts through partnerships with Upside and Shell, and mileage-based incentives, aim to mitigate the financial impact of fuel costs on delivery and rideshare workers. These programs will be in effect through May 26, 2026.

Expanded Rebates and Discounts on Gas Through Uber Pro

All drivers and couriers, regardless of their Uber Pro or Uber Eats Pro tier, will receive an additional 5% cash back at any gas station when using an Uber Pro Card. Cash back percentages are tiered as follows:

  • Blue/Green: 7% cash back
  • Gold: 8% cash back
  • Platinum: 9% cash back
  • Diamond: 11% cash back

Drivers and couriers can also earn an additional 3% cash back at Exxon and Mobil gas pumps and 1% cash back at Mastercard Easy Savings stations. Top-tier drivers can now achieve up to 15% cash back at the pump, an increase from the previous maximum rate of 10% [Uber Newsroom].

Significantly Expanded Discounts on Gas via Upside and Shell Fuel Rewards

Uber has expanded its partnerships with Upside and Shell to offer greater savings:

  • Shell® Fuel Rewards® program: Drivers can now save up to 21¢ per gallon of gas (increased from 7¢ per gallon).
  • Upside: Drivers can now save up to $1.00 per gallon (increased from 25¢ per gallon).

These offers from Upside and Shell Fuel Rewards can be combined with the Uber Pro Card for even greater savings [Uber Blog].

Mileage-Based Incentives for Delivery Drivers

In addition to fuel discounts, Uber is introducing mileage-based incentives for delivery drivers, starting on March 30, 2026. These incentives will be paid out weekly based on the miles driven during active deliveries:

  • After 125 miles: $5
  • After 200 miles: $10
  • After 250 miles: $15

This incentive is currently set to conclude on May 3, 2026 [Uber Blog].

Continued Investment in Electric Vehicle Transition

Uber is also continuing to invest in programs to support drivers transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs), with over 286,000 monthly active ZEV drivers. The company aims to operate a zero-emission platform globally by 2040 [Uber Newsroom].
