UC San Diego Tritons Secure Big West Championship and NCAA Tournament Berth

HENDERSON, Nev. – The UC San Diego Tritons women’s basketball team clinched their second consecutive Big West Championship title with a 60-48 victory over Hawai’i on Saturday at Lee’s Family Forum. The win secures the Tritons a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.

The Tritons (24-8) overcame a slow start, trailing by as many as ten points in the first half. A strong second-half performance, fueled by Erin Condron’s dominant rebounding and scoring, propelled UC San Diego to victory. Condron finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Tournament MVP Makayla Rose contributed 17 points and eight rebounds, playing all 40 minutes of the game.

Hawai’i initially gained an advantage, leading 28-20 at halftime. However, UC San Diego’s defense tightened in the second half, forcing six turnovers in the third quarter and out rebounding Hawai’i 14-6 during that period.
