UFC Drops Fighters Bunes and Medina Following Fight Night 268
The UFC has reportedly released two fighters, Felipe Bunes and Jose Daniel Medina, from its roster after UFC Fight Night 268, which took place on February 24, 2026, in Mexico City.
Felipe Bunes’ UFC Run
Felipe Bunes went 1-3 during his time with the UFC, joining the promotion in 2024. He lost his debut against Joshua Van, the reigning UFC Flyweight Champion. Bunes secured his only victory by submitting Jose Johnson in the first round, but subsequently lost back-to-back decisions against Rafael Estevam and Edgar Chairez.
His recent fight against Chairez drew criticism, with Bunes spending a significant portion of the bout on the ground attempting to run down the clock. Whereas one judge scored the fight in his favor, the other two favored Chairez, resulting in a split decision victory for the Mexican fighter.
Jose Daniel Medina’s UFC Career
Jose Daniel Medina lost all four of his fights since his UFC debut in 2024. He previously lost a bout during Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023 via unanimous decision. He failed to advance past the first round in his UFC appearances, suffering two TKO losses and one submission defeat. His most recent fight at UFC Fight Night 268 ended in a knockout loss to Ryan Gandra in just 41 seconds.
Both Bunes and Medina had completed their four-fight contracts with the UFC, and no new deals were agreed upon, leading to their removal from the roster.
