Rose Namajunas Prefers New UFC 324 Opponent, Believes Win Puts Her Closer to Title Shot
Rose Namajunas has expressed relief and strategic satisfaction wiht the change in her upcoming fight at UFC 324. Originally scheduled to face Alexa Grasso, Namajunas will now compete against Natalia Silva.She believes a victory over Silva positions her more favorably for a future title prospect.
Namajunas explained on The Ariel Helwani Show that while she was prepared to fight Grasso,defeating Silva carries more weight in the current flyweight landscape. Silva was widely considered the next potential challenger for Valentina Shevchenko’s flyweight title, boasting a seven-fight win streak.
“I’m definitely happier with the changeup as I feel like I get closer to my goal faster with Natalia, as opposed to like Alexa,” Namajunas stated. “Even with a dominant performance against Alexa,I don’t know where that would have left me in the mix.”
A win against Silva would likely secure Namajunas a title shot against Shevchenko, a scenario Namajunas views as a more direct path to achieving her championship aspirations.
