The agency issued a formal apology to passengers for the significant disruptions caused by the incident.

According to operational updates, airports including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Birmingham Airport, and Edinburgh Airport experienced significant cascading delays and scheduling gridlock.

Airlines scrambled to accommodate stranded passengers and reorganize fleets. According to British Airways, the carrier was forced to cancel or divert more than 100 flights, impacting tens of thousands of travelers. Meanwhile, Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair reported that more than 50 of its flights were canceled, disrupting travel plans for over 65,000 passengers.
