The UK Home Office confirmed on September 16, 2025, that Stanislav Karputch was already removed from the country following his conviction. Arson Attacks on Starmer Properties

The sequence of attacks began on May 8, 2025, when a car formerly owned by Keir Starmer was found burning on a street in Kentish Town, northwest London, where the then-prime minister used to live. Three days later, a fire was discovered at a house in nearby Islington that Starmer had occupied years earlier. On May 12, 2025, another fire broke out at the entrance of a Kentish Town property that Starmer had lent to his wife’s sister. Residents were inside the building at the time Lavrynovych set it alight.

Russian Handler “EL” and Online Recruitment

Court prosecutors detailed that Lavrynovych was recruited online by a Russian-speaking handler using the alias “EL”. Investigations by the BBC revealed evidence indicating that “EL” is a young Russian diplomat closely connected to high levels of the Russian government, trained in information warfare by propaganda instigators and spies. Messages reviewed by the BBC showed “EL” promising Russian citizenship in exchange for carrying out additional attacks and praising Russian President Vladimir Putin.
