UMass Women’s Tennis Continues Dominant Streak with 7-0 Victory Over Franklin Pierce

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to seven matches with a decisive 7-0 sweep over Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2026, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.

Doubles Competition

The UMass team secured a strong start in doubles play, winning all three matches. Ainhoa Ordonez and Gabriela Yamate defeated Ella Faessler and Renata Farima 6-0 at #1 doubles. Ines Gabarro and Candela Tortosa were victorious against Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye with a score of 6-2 at #2 doubles. Sara Gonzalez and Ana Munoz completed the doubles sweep, winning 6-0 over Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich at #3 doubles.

Singles Competition

UMass continued its dominance in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Ines Gabarro won at #1 singles against Martina Pavissich 6-1, 6-2. Sara Gonzalez defeated Fiona Ao 6-4, 6-2 at #2 singles. Ainhoa Ordonez secured a win at #3 singles against Renata Farima 6-2, 6-2. Gabriela Yamate triumphed over Amanda de Oliveira 6-2, 6-3 at #4 singles. Candela Tortosa won at #5 singles against Duru Baycan 6-0, 6-0. Ana Munoz completed the sweep, defeating Owethu Makhanya 6-2, 6-1 at #6 singles.

Team Records

With this victory, the UMass women’s tennis team improves to 14-3 on the season, while Franklin Pierce falls to 3-10.
