University of Zurich Announces Open Professorship in Education in Migration Society
The University of Zurich’s Institute of Education is seeking applications for a professorship in Education in Migration Society. The position, open as of February 1, 2028, can be filled as a full professor, associate professor, or assistant professor with a tenure track, depending on the candidate’s qualifications. Responsibilities and Research Focus
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and contributing to modules within the educational science study programs. They will conduct research within the department and participate in university self-administration. A key aspect of the role is a research focus in areas outside of traditional schooling, with an expected social-educational orientation.
Teaching Requirements
The professorship requires teaching at the Bachelor’s (BA), Master’s (MA), and Doctoral (PhD) levels, particularly within the focus area of “social pedagogy and socialization.” The candidate should be able to represent the breadth of educational science and provide original research impulses for the field. Collaboration with other professorships at the Institute of Education, the Faculty of Philosophy, and on a national and international level is also expected.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a doctorate in educational science at the time of application and demonstrate excellent scientific publications. For an associate or full professorship, a habilitation in educational science or equivalent achievements are also required.
Language Skills
The administrative and teaching language of the University of Zurich is German. While not required at the time of appointment, sufficient German language skills are expected to be acquired within the first three years of employment.
