New Russian air offensive shakes Ukraine with more than 100 drones during the early hours

A new wave of attacks shook Ukraine again this Saturday, after Russia launched 112 long-range drones against different areas of the country, according to the Ukrainian Air Force from kyiv.

Of that total, around 70 were Shahed kamikaze drones, systematically used by Moscow in its night offensives. The air defenses managed to neutralize 91 devices, but at least 18 hit eleven different locations, while fragments of other drones fell at two additional points.

The attack was still ongoing when the official report was issued, confirming that the air war continues to escalate.

In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down 20 Ukrainian drones over seven regions of the country, most of them over Crimea, as well as areas near Moscow and other provinces.

Both sides engage in nightly exchanges of drone strikes — sometimes accompanied by missiles — in a war of attrition that shows no signs of slowing, while millions of civilians continue to live under constant threat from the sky.

Do you think this escalation with drones brings the conflict closer to a major confrontation?
