UNLV Women’s Tennis Defeats Colorado State Amid Record Heat

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women’s tennis team secured a 4-0 victory over Colorado State on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, despite facing record-high temperatures for the month of March.

The Rebels (10-2, 3-0 Mountain West) extended their winning streak to seven consecutive matches, while the Rams fell to 4-10 and 0-3 in conference play. The match was played on the hottest March day in recorded Las Vegas history.

Doubles Play Sets the Tone

UNLV dominated in doubles competition. Veronika Kliuch and Eszter Kis-Czako defeated Leyla Tozin and Diana Lizarazo 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Hudson Hawkins and Nikol Mircheva then secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Sorcha Caves and Annika Planinsek at the top spot.

Rebels Sweep Singles Competition

The Rebels continued their strong performance into singles play:

• Veronika Kliuch defeated Sorcha Caves 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1
• Hudson Hawkins defeated Leyla Tozin 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3
• Eszter Kis-Czako clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Logan Voeks on court four.

Rebel of the Match

Veronika Kliuch was named Rebel of the Match. Her straight-set singles win improved her overall record to 19-2, including a perfect 12-0 in dual matches this season.

Next Up for UNLV

UNLV will host Wyoming on Sunday, with doubles play scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PT. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free.
