The 2025 U.P. State Fair concluded its weeklong run in Escanaba on Sunday, drawing an estimated 100,500 attendees and marking a 0.5% increase in overall attendance compared to the previous year, according to event organizers. Despite bouts of rain and heat throughout the week, the community turnout packed the midway, barns, and grandstands.
Gate Revenue and Midway Performance
The steady crowds drove record gate revenue and vendor sales, according to fair officials. Skerbeck Entertainment Group, the fair’s longtime midway partner, reported record-breaking ride revenues. The event wrapped up Sunday evening with a fireworks display sponsored by Skerbeck Entertainment Group.
“This year’s fair was truly one for the record books,” said Matt Jensen, chair of the U.P. State Fair Authority, noting that community support from sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, staff, volunteers, and fairgoers made the event a success despite challenging weather.
Grandstand Entertainment and Free Attractions
Grandstand entertainment, presented by Island Resort and Casino, featured performances by The Fab Four, Diamond Rio, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Justin Moore, and Pop Evil, while UPW Uprising Wrestling closed out the week with live performances.
Vickie Micheau, executive director of the Delta County Chamber of Commerce—the managing agency for the fair—highlighted the value of inclusive programming. “One of the fair’s biggest draws continues to be the wide range of entertainment included free with gate admission,” Micheau said. Visitors accessed nightly grandstand shows, livestock competitions, daily educational exhibits, Martinez Sand Sculptures workshops, a strolling piano, Arestov’s Acrobatic Extravaganza, and activities in the Steam and Gas Village and DNR Pocket Park at no extra charge.
Agricultural Tradition and Community Recognition
Agriculture and youth remained central to the fair’s schedule. State Fair Royal Court Crowning, and livestock and poultry auctions showcased regional farming traditions and the work of young exhibitors.
