Ursula Andress, Bond Girl, Loses Millions to Former Manager
Ursula Andress, the iconic actress who rose to fame as the first Bond girl in 1962’s Dr. No, is reportedly devastated after discovering her former manager allegedly lost a significant portion of her fortune. The 90-year-old Swiss actress filed a criminal complaint alleging embezzlement against Eric Freymond, who managed her estate from 2017 to 2025.
Financial Loss and Allegations
Andress claims Freymond lost approximately 18 million Swiss francs (nearly 19.8 million euros, or approximately $21.3 million USD) of her estimated 21.8 million euro fortune through dubious transactions without her knowledge. She stated to German news outlet Blick, “I was deliberately targeted. For eight years, I was courted, and seduced. I was lied to without scruple and my trust was exploited […] to take everything from me. And they were counting on my age!”
Dubious Transactions and a “Fictitious” Art Collection
The alleged fraud involved complex transactions, including the transfer of funds from a Parisian bank, Lombard Odier, to an account linked to the Order of Vaudois notaries via the Swiss bank Saanenbank. These funds were reportedly used to purchase artwork, registered in the name of Freymond’s wife, that Andress was unaware of. The actress describes her supposed collection of contemporary art as “fictitious,” with its location and true value unknown.
Freymond’s Death and Previous Suspicions
Eric Freymond took his own life in July 2025 at the age of 67. Prior to his death, he had confessed to some of the charges during an interrogation in Paris. He had similarly been suspected of embezzling funds from other clients.
Andress’s Emotional State
Andress expressed profound distress over the situation, stating, “This feeling of helplessness is unbearable – it’s killing me.” She reported experiencing insomnia and anxiety attacks. “I worked hard and always saved. I was hoping for a peaceful retirement. And here it happens: I have been despicably defrauded,” she lamented.
A Legacy Defined by Dr. No
Ursula Andress’s portrayal of Honey Ryder emerging from the sea in Dr. No remains a cinematic icon. The film’s premiere led to a surge in sales of the two-piece swimsuit she wore, solidifying her status as a Bond girl – a title later embraced by actresses like Halle Berry, Eva Green, and Monica Bellucci. Andress received a Golden Globe in 1964 for her performance.
An investigation into the alleged embezzlement is currently underway.
