The attention of observers next week will be focused on the data on American jobs on Wednesday and on inflation in January on Friday on which the president Donald Trump a good part of the outcome of the November midterm elections is at stake. Consumer prices in the US are still high (they were at 2.7% in December 2025 on a yearly basis) and analysts expect them to fall slightly to +2.5% in January.
Also expected for the GDP of the fourth quarter of 2025 in‘Eurozone Friday and of Great Britain Thursday while consumer prices in China are expected to confirm ongoing deflation. We are also looking at early elections Japan tomorrow, where the ultra-conservative Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi aims to win by a landslide.
