U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on June 25, 2026, that all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations oppose a proposed toll for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint. Blinken stated during a regional tour following U.S.-Iran negotiations, “There isn’t a nation on Earth that supports having to pay money to go through the straits,” according to a State Department statement.
