UT Austin Plans New Volleyball arena and Athlete Housing
The University of Texas at Austin is moving forward with plans to construct a dedicated arena for its nationally-ranked women’s volleyball team, alongside new housing for student-athletes. This is big news for Longhorns fans and athletes alike.
on Wednesday, the university announced it’s seeking private developers to handle the entire project – from planning and design to construction, financing, and operation. The goal? A state-of-the-art arena and housing facility with “minimal financial outlay from the University.” What constitutes “minimal” remains to be seen.
The new arena will be conveniently located across the street from the Moody Center, home to the basketball programs, which opened in 2022. Currently, the site is a parking lot, offering a prime location for growth.
