UT San Antonio Ambassadors Program Cultivates Future Leaders
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is empowering students to develop crucial leadership skills through its experiential learning opportunities, with the UT San Antonio Ambassadors program playing a key role. The program, established in 1988, provides a select group of students with practical experience and prepares them for success in the workforce.
A Legacy of Leadership Development
The UT San Antonio Ambassadors program offers students the chance to serve as hosts at a variety of campus and community events. These include Commencement ceremonies, Roadrunner Preview events for prospective students, employer networking opportunities, VIP gatherings and university-sponsored conferences. Ambassadors represent the university at major public events, honing their communication, leadership, professionalism, and teamwork skills.
Peyton Guidry’s Experience
Senior accounting major and Honors College student Peyton Guidry highlights the program’s impact. Guidry, who has taken on leadership roles within the Ambassadors, emphasized the program’s value in building a lasting legacy for future students. “My experience with the Ambassadors has shown me how to be a leader while building something that lasts, empowering others and leaving a legacy for future students,” Guidry said.
Career-Engaged Learning Support
The Ambassadors program is supported by the Career-Engaged Learning unit at UTSA, which focuses on providing students with opportunities to translate classroom knowledge into real-world applications. This support helps students build confidence and career readiness competencies essential for workforce success.
“Career Ready Roadrunners” Video Series
Guidry’s experiences are featured in a video as part of the “Career Ready Roadrunners” series produced by the Division of Academic Affairs. The series showcases how UTSA students are preparing for their future careers through practical experiences.
