UWRF Football Soars to Top 16 with Dominant Playoff Win

RIVER FALLS – The UWRF football team finished the WIAC conference with a 10-1 record, marking their first conference win since 1998. They’ve climbed as high as No. 4 in Division 3 rankings and reached the playoffs for the third time in program history. Now,the Falcons are making even more history,advancing to the top 16 of the bracket with a decisive 58-7 victory over Chapman University (California).
Saturday’s game was played in challenging conditions,with inches of snow falling throughout.Crews worked tirelessly, using plows and shovels during breaks in the action to clear the field. Despite the weather,the falcons delivered a dominant performance,controlling both offense and defense for a pleasant win.
The Falcons’ offense proved unstoppable. Senior quarterback Kaleb Blaha, from Fridley, completed 17 of 23 passes for 227 yards and four touchdowns. He also contributed on the ground with 15 carries for 81 yards and another touchdown.Five different Falcons caught touchdown passes, showcasing the team’s offensive versatility.
“We have so many playmakers on offense that you never know where the ball is going, or who will break away,” Blaha said. “It puts a lot of pressure on defenses because they have to cover everyone.”
Blaha credits their strong offensive line for creating opportunities. He believes this line is among the best in the nation.
The defense was equally extraordinary, recording four interceptions and recovering two fumbles.
“It was indicative of a lot of our other games where all three phases were playing well,” said a team representative. “Everyone contributed.”
