Vancouver Restaurant Closures: MeeT Yaletown to Close Doors Amidst Industry Challenges

Vancouver’s restaurant scene is experiencing a wave of closures, with several beloved establishments announcing their final services in recent months. Among them is MeeT in Yaletown, a popular plant-based restaurant, which will close on Saturday, March 28th, 2026. This follows the closure of its Gastown location in late 2025, leaving MeeT on Main as the sole remaining outpost.

MeeT in Yaletown: A Final Farewell

After eight years in the Yaletown neighborhood, MeeT announced its demanding decision to close its Mainland Street location. The restaurant cited the changing economic landscape post-COVID-19 as a primary factor. According to MeeT, rising food and labor costs, coupled with a decrease in diners, have created significant challenges for the industry. MeeT in Yaletown also acknowledged the difficulties of operating multiple locations in close proximity.

“We realize this may arrive as a surprise to many of you, but we’ve made the difficult decision to close our 8-year-strong MeeT in Yaletown location,” the restaurant shared on Instagram. MeeT encourages patrons to visit before the final day of service and share their favorite memories of the location.

Despite the closure, MeeT on Main will remain open and is planning expansions, including extended hours, refreshed menus, new feature programs, and a new patio. The potential addition of brunch is also being considered.

Other Recent Vancouver Restaurant Closures

MeeT in Yaletown is not alone in its recent closure. Several other Vancouver restaurants have announced their departures:
