A Gluten-Free Christmas Centrepiece: The Veggie Croissant Wreath
Ok ok, so it’s not technically made from actual croissants. But the magic of pre-rolled (and gluten-free!) puff pastry means you can have a stunning wreath-shaped centrepiece on the table that will keep anyone with dietary requirements – as well as everyone else – very happy on Christmas Day! Our veggie croissant wreath was a real winner in the test kitchen and is a sure-fire addition to festive menus.
Gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian means this delicious veggie-packed dish will cover all bases in your Big Day menu – or even as part of a party spread. Flaky pastry is formed into mini croissants and stuffed with roasted butternut squash, festive parsnips, juicy cranberries and tangy caramelised onion chutney. You can mix up the veggies too if you like – some of the team suggested roasted carrots or even slices of apple for a little hint of sweetness – play with your favorite flavours and make it your own.
You can even start prepping this the day before; making the gravy, filling and shaping the wreath before loosely covering and storing in the fridge. Then, all you have to do on the day is egg wash, bake the wreath and reheat the gravy – leaving even more time to think about roast potatoes! Talking of which, when we tested this in the kitchen we were all in agreement that whilst it’s more than enough as the main part of your meal – it can’t hurt to serve with crunchy roasties, can it?
