Venezuela Bolsters Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace Amid Regional Engagement

Venezuela is actively strengthening its “Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace” as a central tenet of its foreign policy, with recent initiatives focused on expanding regional ties and fostering dialogue. This strategy, championed by the National Government, aims to solidify Venezuela’s position within Latin America and the Caribbean through political, social, and economic cooperation.

Parlatino-Venezuela Focuses on Regional Integration

Deputy Pedro Infante, president of the Venezuela chapter of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), announced a renewed focus on bolstering Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace. According to Ultimas Noticias, Infante emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with nations across Latin America and the Caribbean. Parlatino, founded in 1964 and based in Panama, serves as an auxiliary entity in Venezuela’s international relations, promoting unity, integration, and the defense of democracy within the region.

US Southern Command Visit Signals Shift in Relations

A recent visit by the U.S. Southern Command to Venezuela has been hailed as a triumph for Bolivarian diplomacy by Deputy Pedro Infante. As reported by RNV, Infante stated the meeting with Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino López, and Minister for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, signifies a move towards respectful dialogue and recognition of shared interests. He characterized the meeting as a demonstration of strength, noting a shift from previous adversarial stances towards pragmatic discussions, particularly concerning drug trafficking.

Expanding Parliamentary Cooperation

The Venezuelan National Assembly (AN) is actively formalizing Parliamentary Friendship Groups with Andean and Central American countries as part of its broader Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace initiative. Mazo News reports that groups have been established with Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Panama, aiming to facilitate legislative exchange and joint work on foreign policy and international law. Deputy Pedro Infante highlighted the importance of these groups in consolidating historical and cultural ties and promoting regional cooperation, drawing inspiration from the integrationist ideals of Simón Bolívar.

Social Transformation and Regional Stability

President Nicolás Maduro has also emphasized the importance of peace and well-being for the Venezuelan people through the Activation of the 4th Social Transformation. Telesur English reported that as part of this initiative, Deputy Pedro Infante was appointed as Supreme Chief of the Antonio José de Sucre Plan, focused on pacifying and rebuilding the Petare parish in Miranda State. President Maduro announced a summit with the Bolivarian Alliance to define a 2025 agenda focused on strengthening sovereignty and peace.

Venezuela’s commitment to Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace appears to be a multifaceted strategy encompassing parliamentary cooperation, direct engagement with international actors, and domestic social programs aimed at fostering stability and regional integration.
