Venus Williams and her partner Ekaterina Alexandrova were defeated in the first round of the women’s doubles competition at the 2026 Australian Open on tuesday, January 20th.

The duo faced a tough challenge from France’s Elsa Jacquemot and Colombia’s Emiliana Arango, ultimately falling with a score of 7-6 (3), 6-4. The match showcased competitive tennis,with both teams demonstrating skill and determination.

The first set was notably engaging, characterized by a closely contested back-and-forth exchange. Jacquemot and Arango ultimately secured the set victory in a tiebreak, gaining an early advantage.

Building on their momentum, Jacquemot and Arango established a stronger presence in the second set, steadily increasing their lead. Despite a resilient effort from Williams and Alexandrova, the French-Colombian pair successfully advanced to the next round.
