VfL Sindelfingen’s Anni Marcard Shines at Württemberg Indoor Championships

The Württemberg Leichtathletik-Verband (WLV) recently concluded its indoor season with the state championships in Ulm, where athletes from VfL Sindelfingen delivered impressive performances, particularly in the youth categories. Anni Marcard emerged as a standout athlete, claiming the title in the W14 pentathlon.

Marcard Dominates W14 Pentathlon

Anni Marcard, representing VfL Sindelfingen, showcased her all-around athleticism in the W14 pentathlon, finishing with a commanding score of 2,703 points. BW-Leichtathletik reported that Marcard excelled in three of the five disciplines.

Her performance included a strong showing in the long jump, achieving a distance of 5.56 meters, and a high jump of 1.64 meters, contributing significantly to her overall score. Despite a time of 2:49.60 in the 800-meter run, which was twelfth best in the competition, Marcard’s consistent performance across all events secured her the gold medal. VfL Sindelfingen highlighted her dominance in the competition, noting she was the “overragende Athletin” among the 39 competitors.

Team Success for VfL Sindelfingen

Beyond Marcard’s individual triumph, VfL Sindelfingen also achieved success in the team standings. The U16 female team, consisting of Anni Marcard, Amelie Knoll, and Leonie Stöhr, secured a silver medal with a total of 7,194 points. Stuttgarter Zeitung reported the team narrowly missed the gold, finishing just 60 points behind the winning team.

Amelie Knoll finished 18th in the W15 pentathlon, while Leonie Stöhr placed 14th.

Other Notable Performances

Julian Fauser (M15) competed in the heptathlon, achieving a 14th-place finish with notable results in the 60-meter sprint (8.18 seconds) and pole vault (2.40 meters). Niklas Eßlinger secured a bronze medal in the men’s heptathlon with 4,909 points, while Kai Michalek finished just behind in fourth place with 4,754 points.
