Vienna – After a dehydrated woman who was allegedly abused almost to death was found in an apartment in Vienna-Landstrasse on Thursday afternoon, her condition has now stabilized. However, as a spokeswoman for the Vienna Health Association announced on Monday morning in response to an APA request, the 26-year-old was still in an intensive care unit in a hospital. The State Criminal Police Office is continuing to investigate suspected serious acts of violence.
The police assume that the woman “has already been in the apartment for several days,” as a police spokesman told the APA on Thursday. It was said that “the examinations and investigations would have to show” whether she had actually been abused. However, investigators are currently assuming a sexual offense.
After her mother reported her missing, the emergency services found the neglected woman at around 1 p.m. on Thursday with such life-threatening injuries that all attempts to speak to her failed. The woman was therefore unable to provide any further information. The professional rescue team took her to hospital with severe hematomas and abrasions. There, the doctors determined that the woman had probably fallen victim to a serious act of violence.
The State Criminal Police Office now wants to clarify the background. The state police department told the APA that the woman is currently not ready for questioning. It was still unclear on Monday whether the mother had already been questioned. There are currently no details about the investigation that can be shared with the public, it said. (WHAT)
