UNI Wrestling Gears Up for 2026 NCAA Championships
The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) wrestling team is preparing for the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, scheduled to capture place at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, from March 19-21. The Panthers recently received their pre-allocation spots for the championships, as announced by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee on February 26, 2026.
Recent Performance and Rankings
UNI concluded its dual competition with a 10-8 record, achieving a 4-3 mark against Sizeable 12 competitors. The team finished second at the 2025 Big 12 Championships and qualified ten athletes for the NCAA Championships – the most since 1991. NCAA Championship Allocations
A total of 63 wrestlers will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships from the Big 12 Championships, which will be held March 6-7 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The number of automatic qualifiers varies by weight class:
- 133, 184, 197: Top 8 finishers
- 141 & 174: Top 7 finishers
- Heavyweight: Top 6 finishers
- 125, 149 & 157: Top 5 finishers
- 165: Top 4 finishers
