Visioni: A Dialogue Between Painting and Sculpture in Treviso
A new exhibition, “Visioni,” featuring the works of Ilaria Taurino and Ferruccio Tessarollo, will be on display at the Spazio Lazzari Association in Treviso, Italy, from March 1st to May 31st, 2026. The exhibition will culminate in a finissage on Thursday, May 28th, at 6:00 PM.
Contrasting Visions, Shared Space
“Visioni” presents a compelling dialogue between the intense portraits of painter Ilaria Taurino and the material sculptures of Ferruccio Tessarollo (also known as Uccio). Taurino’s function focuses on the human figure, exploring both its formal and psychological dimensions, while Tessarollo creates forms from repurposed construction materials like extruded polystyrene, shaped by fire, water, and earth.
Ilaria Taurino: Capturing the Human Gaze
Ilaria Taurino’s artistic research centers on the human figure, with a particular emphasis on the complexity of the gaze as a reflection of inner life. She employs a slow and methodical painting technique, using oil paints to capture subtle tonal shifts and expressive details in the hands and faces of her subjects. Her work often addresses contemporary social issues, particularly those related to the female experience. Examples include “Donna, vita, libertà,” referencing the Iranian protests, and “Celeste e giallo,” a poignant depiction of hope amidst the conflict in Ukraine. TrevisoToday reports that her paintings aim to capture significant glances, metaphorical visions of diverse human conditions.
Taurino is also a Life & Business Coach and trainer, with over twenty years of experience in corporate training and personal development. She graduated from the State Art High School in 2021 and subsequently specialized in Art Therapy.
Ferruccio Tessarollo: Sculpting with Recycled Materials
Ferruccio Tessarollo, working under the pseudonym Uccio, creates sculptures from waste materials sourced from the construction industry. He utilizes extruded polystyrene, a thermoplastic resin, and transforms it through the application of fire and water, resulting in unique textures and chromatic effects. Ferruccio Tessarollo’s website highlights his unconventional approach to materials, and techniques. His sculptures appear to dissolve into the surrounding space, exhibiting both solidity and lightness.
Tessarollo has received critical acclaim, including recognition from Vittorio Sgarbi and Paolo Levi, and has won several art competitions, including “Arte a Palazzo” in Bologna (2016) and first prize in the “Arte tra cielo e Mare” competition in Jesolo. Recent exhibitions include a show dedicated to the Divine Comedy at the Art Venice Gallery in Venice (2021) and “Genesis” at the Lower Castle of Marostica (2022).
