Viz Media announced that a new limited television anime series for the Naruto franchise will be unveiled during a dedicated panel at New York Comic Con. The “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel is scheduled for October 10 at 5:00 p.m. EDT, with a worldwide live stream broadcast on YouTube for fans unable to attend in person.

The upcoming panel on October 10 will deliver details regarding the new limited anime project. Voice actors Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama, the voice of Naruto and Sasuke in the anime, will make special appearances at the event.

Two Decades of Manga and Animation History
Kishimoto launched the original Naruto ninja manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1999, running the serialized story until November 2014. Over the past two decades, the intellectual property has grown into a global phenomenon encompassing multiple eras of television animation.
The core manga spawned the primary Naruto and Naruto Shippūden television anime series, numerous original video anime projects, theatrical films, and a sprawling library of video games, stage plays, and novels. The franchise previously transitioned into the next generation with the Boruto sequel manga and television anime series.
Hollywood Live-Action Film Adaptation Updates
Beyond the television screen, the franchise is expanding into live-action cinema through a production with Lionsgate. The official website for the Naruto franchise confirmed on July 10 that the live-action film project officially launched a global casting search to fill the lead roles of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, with secondary character casting slated for a later phase.
Production details reveal that filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is directing the feature. Cretton is also producing through his company Hisako alongside Jeyun Munford. Additional producers on the project include Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu of Arad Productions, alongside Jeremy Latcham. Meanwhile, actor Charles Melton, recognized for his work in Riverdale and Beef, remains in final negotiations to portray the mentoring ninja Kakashi Hatake.
