Slovak skier Petra Vlhová did not manage the goal combination approximately halfway down the course and did not finish the team combination slalom race at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. Vlhová was the first to take to the track with the number 28, she entered competitive races after more than two years.

Vlhová went on the track first
Vlhová presented herself together with Katarína Šrobová. The 21-year-old skier was given the opportunity in the combined downhill and in her Olympic debut she went 26th, losing 10.07 seconds to the fastest American Breezy Johnson on the Tofana slope in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
At the bottom of the track, she almost “flew” off the track in one of the turns, but she managed to pull it off, fit into the next gate and finish her run. At the finish line, she was classified in last place. Since the afternoon slalom part was run in reverse order, Vlhová started first.
It thus had the advantage of an intact track. From the beginning, she found a good rhythm, but after the second interval, she could not manage the combination of goals and was eliminated. Slovak women will not be classified in the competition.
Vlhová took to the competitive slope for the first time since falling in the giant slalom in Jasná on January 20, 2024, during which she seriously injured her knee. The 30-year-old skier already confirmed at the end of January that after a two-year break, she received the green light from the doctors for full skiing.
She expressed her desire to compete at the 2026 Olympics, but everything depended on whether she would have time to prepare before the start of the Olympic race. She definitely confirmed that she will start at the Olympic Games on Saturday (February 7) evening.
In the team competition, she primarily wanted to try the slope of Tofan, where eight days later she will also start in the classic slalom. In it, four years ago, she won gold at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, but after a long break, she does not set performance goals and does not talk about defense.
