Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Reports Growth Driven by ID. Buzz and Multivan

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) concluded 2025 with a 6% increase in sales, delivering over 428,000 vehicles, despite challenging market conditions. Turnover reached nearly €17 billion. Whereas overall sales grew, profit margins were impacted by significant investments in new models and production processes.

ID. Buzz Leads the Charge

The all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz was a key driver of this growth, with over 60,000 deliveries worldwide – double the number from the previous year. The ID. Buzz has become a leader in its class in Europe. Specifications for the ID. Buzz include a range of up to 293 miles with its 86 kWh net energy content battery (Life and Style 7-seat models).

Multivan Achieves Record Sales

The Multivan also experienced its most successful year ever, with nearly 39,000 deliveries to customers. Volkswagen maintains a leading market position in Germany and 11 other European countries.

Transporter Family Transition

Sales of the Transporter model group were weaker, attributed to the gradual rollout of the new generation, developed in collaboration with Ford. Production of the new Transporter is expected to ramp up in 2026.

Looking Ahead: 2026 Plans

Volkswagen plans several updates for 2026, including “facelifts” for the Caddy and Multivan, enhancing both their exterior appearance and interior practicality. The ID. Buzz will receive new features, such as a “Good Night” package and a camping mode, alongside the introduction of an extended version and a dedicated Cargo model for commercial users.

Expanding Plug-in Hybrid Options

For business customers, the Transporter and Caravelle will become available as plug-in hybrid models, offering more economical city driving. The Volkswagen Crafter will also be offered in specialized versions, including a three-sided tipper, a van with a large cargo box, and a model equipped with a cargo lift.

Strategic Collaboration for Efficiency

To improve cost competitiveness and production efficiency, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge will increase collaboration with other brands within the Volkswagen Group, including joint ownership of factories and coordinated development of new models. This collaboration aims to reduce costs while maintaining product quality.
