Eligibility Requirements for Student-Athletes and Staff
Candidates for the Hawks Athletics Hall of Fame include former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, trainers, and individuals who have delivered meritorious service to SUNY New Paltz Athletics. For former student-athletes, the selection criteria require full-time attendance at SUNY New Paltz for a minimum of two years, participation in at least one varsity sport for two years, and a timeline of at least five years away from the university. The committee evaluates candidates based on athletic achievements, honors, leadership roles, postseason recognition, championships, and record-setting performances.
For former coaches, administrators, and trainers, nominees must have served the department for at least five years and remained away from the college for a minimum of two years. These candidates must demonstrate character, leadership, and a commitment to the athletic and personal development of Hawks student-athletes. Under the department’s operational guidelines, no more than five inductees may be selected for any single class.
