A 33-year-old divorced mother of five in the Wakhinane-Nimzatt district of Senegal has been released by prosecutors in Pikine-Guédiawaye after police questioned her regarding an alleged infant abandonment, according to reporting by L’Observateur. Authorities launched an inquiry after receiving an anonymous tip about a woman who had recently given birth in the Daroukhane neighborhood.

Concealed Pregnancy and Secret Birth
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit interviewed the woman, identified in reports as K. According to L’Observateur, she told authorities she became pregnant following a relationship with a man whose identity she did not know. She maintained that she managed to conceal her condition throughout the pregnancy and secretly gave birth during her seventh month, on the night of August 14 to 15.
Guédiawaye Cemetery Search Yields No Remains
When questioned about the infant, Tall claimed the child died at birth. She stated that she wrapped the body in a sheet and left it early the following morning near the Muslim cemeteries in Guédiawaye. Accompanied by police officers, she subsequently visited the location and pointed out the exact spot where she reportedly abandoned the newborn.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings and Missing Body
Despite a meticulous search conducted over several hours around the designated site, police officers failed to locate the body, according to L’Observateur. Investigators raised the possibility that stray animals could have moved the remains from the area, though that hypothesis remains unconfirmed. Legal proceedings in the case continue as authorities work to establish the sequence of events and locate the infant.
