Walmart’s Onn Streaming Devices Face Price Hikes and Stock Issues

Walmart’s lineup of Onn-branded streaming devices, known for being among the most affordable options for accessing Google TV, are experiencing price increases and stock shortages, reflecting broader challenges in the consumer electronics market.

Onn 4K Plus Price Increase

The Onn 4K Plus, a streaming puck supporting Google TV with 4K output, has seen a price increase from its initial $29.88 to $39.88. Although still relatively inexpensive compared to other streaming devices like the Google TV Streamer (Google TV Streamer), this represents a significant price jump for the budget-friendly line. Reports on Reddit (Reddit) confirm this is not an isolated change.

Recent Stock Shortages

This price adjustment follows a period of stock shortages for the Onn 4K Plus throughout February, before units briefly reappeared at the original $30 price point. The ongoing “RAMageddon” – a global shortage of RAM chips – is likely a contributing factor. Even with only 2GB of RAM, increased manufacturing costs or reliance on more expensive suppliers may have necessitated the price hike.

Limited Availability Across the Onn Lineup

Stock issues appear to be widespread. As of the time of this writing, the Onn 4K Plus is out of stock. While the Onn $20 1080p Streaming Stick remains available, it is too experiencing low stock. The rest of Walmart’s Onn streaming device selection is currently sold out. This suggests further price increases may be coming to the entire Onn lineup.

Currently, the Google TV Streamer is marked down to $80.
