Cork-born middleweight Callum Walsh continued his undefeated streak, improving to 16-0 with a unanimous points decision over Carlos Ocampo in Las Vegas on Friday night. The bout headlined the inaugural Zuffa Boxing event, promoted by UFC President Dana White, at the Meta Apex.
Walsh, 24, demonstrated his skill against the more seasoned Mexican fighter, navigating a challenging ten-round contest. While he faced a knockdown in the sixth round, Walsh rebounded effectively to secure the victory on all three judges’ scorecards. The judges tallied scores of 98-90,98-90,and 97-91 in his favor.
“I’m never happy with the performance unless I knock them out, but getting to 10 rounds again is good,” walsh stated after the fight.”The opponents are getting tougher and tougher. it was a good experience and a good night, and all around I am happy to get the win.”
