Weekend Max Mara Fall 2026 Collection: A Journey ‘Into the Forest’ with Robert Rabensteiner
Weekend Max Mara’s fall 2026 collection, titled “Into the Forest: A Weekend With Robert Rabensteiner,” is a collaboration with stylist and former L’Uomo Vogue fashion editor Robert Rabensteiner. The collection explores the intersection of natural landscapes and urban life, drawing inspiration from a woman’s adventures in both settings.
Blending Masculine and Feminine Aesthetics
Rabensteiner envisions a scene of elegant gatherings amidst nature, stating, “It’s the first thing that came to mind: a woman inviting her friends to gather around an exquisitely decorated table in the middle of the woods. It’s the most elegant thing you can do.” The collection itself reflects this sentiment by blending traditionally masculine and feminine elements, pairing classic pieces with modern touches. The project also echoes Rabensteiner’s personal heritage from South Tyrol, combined with the urban aesthetic of Milan, where he currently resides.
Inspired by Alpine Tradition and Urban Style
The collection draws heavily from traditional Austrian alpine coats, reimagined with a focus on textured fabrics creating a mélange effect, classic forms featuring cup sleeves and inverted pleats, and a distinctive green color palette. Rabensteiner masterfully blends workwear, hiking attire, and evening glamour into a cohesive aesthetic.
Key Pieces and Materials
Felted wool is a dominant material, appearing in a variety of forms, including a cropped coat with an inverted box pleat, a hand-sewn double-wool coat in red and blue, and jacket-and-pants ensembles. A hand-sewn double-wool cloth serves as a unifying element, appearing in a tent-shaped cape, a soft-shouldered bomber jacket, and a sleek shift dress. The collection also features slim-fitting dresses with full midi skirts, straight-legged pants, silk tops, and authentic fisherman sweaters.
Color Palette and Accessories
The color palette incorporates green, navy blue, pale blue, and chestnut brown, accented by pops of red, purple, and curry yellow. Materials range from sturdy cotton and Irish wools to luxurious leather, velvet, and silk. Accessories are integral to the collection, including the brand’s signature Pasticcino Bag in leather, suede, or velvet, velvet evening slippers, buckled boots, hiking-inspired booties, a Fedora hat, long cashmere gloves, and printed silk scarves.
