West Ham took the lead in the 50th minute through a goal from Tomáš Souček. The Hammers appeared to be heading for a victory, but a late equalizer from Benjamin Šeško deep into stoppage time – the 96th minute – secured a point for Manchester United.
Manchester United faced challenges heading into the match with several key players sidelined due to injury. Defenders Rasmus Højlund, Dorgu, and midfielder Mason Mount where all unavailable for selection.
The draw also dashed the hopes of dedicated Manchester United fan, Frank Ilett. Ilett, who has famously refrained from cutting his hair for over 490 days, had vowed to shave his head if the team achieved five consecutive wins.His unique pledge gained international attention, but will remain intact following the result against West Ham.
