Western Sydney Airport and Uber Announce Exclusive Pick-Up Zone Partnership

Western Sydney International Airport and Uber have established a formal partnership to launch an exclusive pick-up zone when Australia’s new 24-hour global gateway opens passenger services on October 25, 2026. The dedicated rideshare facility sits just 100 metres from the terminal doors. It features 10 kerbside bays configured to manage passenger departures and arrivals.

Wayfinding and Executive Perspective

The new rideshare zone incorporates clear signage and wayfinding throughout the terminal precinct to guide passengers directly from arrivals to the pick-up bays. Western Sydney International Airport Chief Executive Officer Simon Hickey stated that the collaboration broadens existing transportation choices ahead of the airport’s inaugural passenger flights.

“As the countdown continues to the launch of our inaugural passenger services on October 25, it’s fantastic to have so many options available for passengers to get to and from WSI,” Hickey said, noting that rideshare complements public bus links, taxis, car hire, private transfers, and on-site parking.

Driver Engagement and Operational Scaling

Local drivers have shown strong early engagement with the airport precinct. According to airport leadership, driver access and operational capacity will scale alongside passenger demand over the coming months and years.

Greenfield Milestone and Digital Ecosystem

The rideshare agreement operates alongside a broad suite of ground transport options at the greenfield facility, which commenced cargo operations on July 27, 2026. The development marks Australia’s first major international greenfield airport project in over five decades.

Rideshare arrivals join an established transport ecosystem designed around the 24-hour operating schedule of the airport. Pricing and journey timings remain integrated within the digital platform, allowing travellers to manage bookings on demand as commercial flights scale up following the October launch date.
